Horse Therapy

Aubrey had her first official horse therapy lesson on Saturday, and it was so cool.  We're so thankful that we are able to do this for her.  When we first got there she was definitely stressed, and scared.  And she was not happy about having to wear that helmet.  But once she got on that horse, she had the best time!  They do some really cool things with these kids, and the horses.  They make the kids either speak or sign "stop" and "go" to make the horse move or stop.  They have them perform different tasks while on the horse.  They get to go fast (a quick walk) or slow, and they get to feed the horse and interact with the horse when they are done.  So not only does Aubrey get to have the fun experience of riding a horse...but she is also being engaged verbally, physically, and socially all at the same time.  We believe that this is going to turn out to be a really fun, and beneficial opportunity for Aubrey.  We just love the people at Courage Reins in Highland, and we hope to keep this up for a long time!

We are so proud of Aubrey for being brave and trying a new thing, and we can't wait to see how her skills improve over time.  Oh, and isn't her horse Targon pretty?
