Well, our weekend started out on a pretty sad note. About a week ago Matt's childhood friend Loni gave birth to a stillborn baby. Absolutely devastating to say the least. They held a viewing and graveside service on Friday that Matt attended. When he came home he just kept saying "That was not fun. Poor Loni." I think because he is a father now it was especially hard for him to watch his good friend go through something like this and know what an enormous loss it is.
Luckily, that evening we were able to get out, have some fun, and take our minds off of the days events. We went to the Construction Management opening social for some free food! We had a good time visiting with Matt's friends from school. They were doing a contest called the timber toss (seeing who could throw a 2x4 farthest), and Matt was in first place when we left. Who knew such a skinny guy could be so strong? But then again, he's good at anything he does. Later that night after Bree went to bed we read Harry Potter together. Matt hadn't read any of the books so we are reading the entire series together. We're in the middle of the second book now.
On Saturday we wanted to enjoy the cold, rainy, fall weather so we bundled all up and went to the Alpine Loop again. The leaves are at their colorful peak right now...it was unbelievable. We got out and walked around and let Aubrey grab and touch the leaves...but it was REALLY cold so we stayed in the car most of the time. After we got home we watched a movie while we ate popcorn and drank hot chocolate. It was the perfect autumn day!
On Sunday we made our way up to Syracuse to visit with the Armstrong family. My cousin and her family were in town from Indiana, and we were celebrating her daughter Kate's first birthday. It was wonderful to visit with everyone and let Bree get all loved up. It's days like that when I think Matt and I should definitely stay in Utah. But, I'll probably feel different tomorrow:)

ohh...i love autumn. i wish we'd been there to go to the alpine loop with you guys! it's actually still pretty hot here, but the leaves are just starting to change. and since there are trees everywhere, in every direction --it's difficult to describe how many trees there are in the region we're living in-- i think autumn is going to be GLORIOUS. now you've got me all excited for it! :)
